Fleming, Sir Alexander
Sir Alexander Fleming was a Scottish scientist who discovered
the first ever antibiotic.
This was penicillin, an excellent drug for killing bacteria.
In 1928, in his lab he noticed that a mould had formed in his dish. It
was killing the bacteria. From this mould came penicillin.
Researcher: Gareth D. K. Elliott.
