Templeton, John
Glaswegian John Templeton was a tenor who's first significant
success was in Mozart's piece Con Giovanni, in which he had the
part of Don Ottavio. For some time he was also a leading tenor - primarily
for Marie Felecita Malibran, a Spanish soprano.
In the latter half of the 1800s John Templeton was very
popular - so much so that he once performed two parts (one at Covent Garden
and the other at Drury Lane) in London in one day!
