I grew up in Partick,and attended Dowanhill Primary School from 1950 to 1957, moved up the Byres Rd.to Hillhead(Saltoun St.)and went to Hyndland Secondary from 1957 to 1963, did my 'Highers' then on to Glasgow Uni. for four years,where I was involved in acting and debating in the Union(Scot.Nats.)I taught in Easterhouse for two years,at Lochend Secondary,then emigrated to Australia in 1970.Now married to an Aussie,I have two grown-up children(my daughter,Clare has just finished a year in post-graduate studies at Strathclyde Uni.)and now live and work in Canberra.I've been back twice to Glasgow (last time in 1995) and missed out seeing many old friends.I'd like to get in touch with any one from the old times and have a "wee blether".I'm still interested in the Scot.Nats,FolkMusic and Partick Thistle.

In 1963 I joined the Royal Navy and served on many ships and Submarines including H,M,S, Ausonia, Exmouth,Lochinvar,Collingwood,Resolution,Oberon and Repulse. I worked in London for about 12 years as a office worker (this helped fund my university expenses) research worker, assistant psychologist and mental health rehabilitation worker.

I will be visiting Rutherglen in May 2002 and would love to know if there are any relatives still around. Her name was Margaret Hill daughter of Andrew and Margaret Hill. Lived on Pinkerton Avenue. She had two brothers James and Andrew and two sisters, Jeanne and Annie. My Mother's middle name was Montgomery, while her sister's middle names were Hughes and Brown. Those names may be of some help. My Mother did not keep in touch as her Mother died shortly after my Mother arrived in Canada and the rest of her siblings are deceased.
