I am attempting to put
together a web site to satisfy the nostalgic
yearnings of anyone involved in Townhead, Royston
(Garngad), Germiston and adjacent areas. It
relies on visitors sending me their memories and
scannned photos. I am having particular
difficulty obtaining info on Germiston's History,
where I spent much of my childhood in the
seventies. ANY info/photos of these areas would
be welcome.
Check out the site as it stands at the moment

My grandfather is trying to
build a picture of our family tree and needs help
to solve a mystery. For years his birth
certificate was missing but when he recently
managed to track down and obtain a copy he
discovered his parents were not who he originally
thought.
My grandfathers name is Alan Allison, he was born
on August 1, 1928 in Burnbank Terrace, Glasgow.
The names of his parents on the birth certificate
are:
John Gonnella
Christina Rae Gonnella
The surname Wyllie has also been mentioned as
linked to the mystery.
If you can help at all with any details, please
don't hesitate to contact me.

| Hi, I was stationed in Dunoon
back in 1978-1979. I had a wonderful time in
Scotland and have been back several times since.
I had a very dear friend that I have lost contact
with, I was wondering if anyone out there can
help me out. Her name is Yvonne Hence, she
married Phil Tomson in 1980 and had a daughter
named Elizabeth in 1981. She was born and raised
in Glasgow and moved to Dunoon in 1980. She
divorced in late 80's and moved back to Glasgow
then, that is when I lost contact with her. Any
information will be apreciated. Thank you Posted - May 2000

| Does anyone know the
whereabouts of Margaret McLeod? Her married name
was Hutton. She was married to Jimmy but I
believed they divorced. We worked together in
McDonalds in Buchanan Street. Margaret was a
great hairdresser. That was in the early 60s. She
lived in Shields Road growing up and she may have
moved to the North of England somewhere. I would
really apprecite if anyone knowing anything of
her would contact me. I now live in Florida and
she called me once years ago but I lost touch
when I moved. I would really like to find her so
if anyone can help I would be very grateful.

when she was young and she was brought up by an
aunt & uncle - a sea captain who made regular
trips to France. Mary was said to have been a
governess in Bow Street, London and gone to
Sebourne University in Paris. Was said to have
siblings - but these stories not confirmed. Mary
Carswell married William Brown 1858 Glasgow and
they emigrated to New Zealand 1863. William Brown

& George Brown m. Ellen (living 206
Rutherglen Rd, Govan 1881 census - butcher). NZ

Glasgow 1910 - name unknown. Piece of paper just

Hi
My name is Angela Burton. I am trying to find my
boyfriend's sister, whom he has never met. My
boyfriend, William Romain ( formerly Robinson )
was born at Stobhill Hospital in Glasgow on
7/7/72 and was adopted out as was his brother,
Neil ( born 1970 ) to the Romain family. His
sister, Davina was going to be adopted by the
Romain's but an aunt decided to take Davina in
and William and Neil were never able to meet her.
Davina was 1 year younger than Will, born in 1973
and that would now make her 27 years old. She is
also of Pakistani and Scottish descent. Both
William and Neil were adopted out as their mother
had an apparent drug addiction which led to both
boys having medical problems at birth.
If anyone at all knows any information about
Davina's whereabouts or a Robinson family could
they please e-mail me Posted

I emigrated to Canada in 1962.
Went to Balornock (left 1947) and Albert (left
1951) Schools. For the last forty years have been
trying to remember the last few lines of a poem -
can anyone help?
I wish how I wish that I had a little house
With a mat for the cat and a hole-y for the mouse
With a clock going tock in the corner of the
room
And a kettle and a cupboard and a big birch broom
To school in the morning the children off would
run
I'd give them a kiss and a penny and a bun
.................
My mind is blank from here. I remember the
teacher telling us that the rythm of the poem
equated the ticking of the big clock in the
kitchen - I was so impressed!!!

I'm trying to find some more
information about the "Hive Community
Centre"
which was in Nitshill around the 80s/90s. The
reason for my search is that
my mother was one of the people who helped set up
this facility.
Unfortunately she died in the mid 80s shortly
after it opened.
As a mark of respect for her work there, a plaque
was put up in reception
(as you walked in you couldn't miss it!) with a
nice little piece about
here.
Unfortunately the centre has now closed down, (I
don't live in Glasgow
anymore so only found out too late) but something
must have happened to that
plaque. For obvious reasons I would like to get
it if possible. It would
not have been thrown away I'm sure, someone must
have it. Any help would be
much appreciated as would be a great reminder of
a sorely missed parent.
Thanks for any help anyone can give.Posted - August 2002

My neighbor and I have
discovered that our great grandfathers were both
from Glasgow, Lanark, High Church, born around
1830 and both families ended up settling near
Malad City, Idaho, USA , after Willard, Utah,
USA. We were wondering what the population of
Glasgow was about that time, we have to think
that they knew one another if it was a small area
or town. If any one knows that population in and
around 1830 or so or how to access it, we would
appreciate it. Thanks in advance,

When I was a little girl in
1973 my dad was stationed in the Navy in Dunoon
Scotland, my mom also worked and I stayed with a
lady by the name of Iza McCarron. I have alot of
good memories about Aunt Iza and her daughter
Rosemary. Our address was 54 Aucamore Rd.???I
would love to have contact with them again!!!
Also I have a Grandfather Clock that has the name
of Rob T. Lyon - Lanark on it ?? (Very old) I
would like any information available on this
person.
