Largs
is famous for its Viking History. The battle of
Largs was fought here against maurauding Vikings
1300 years ago. A permanent exhibition to the
Viking invasion "Vikingar" operates
throughout the year. Largs also hosts a Viking
festival week each September which culminates in
a recreation of the ancient battle and ends with
the burning of a Viking longboat.

The small
ferry terminal connects the mainland with
the town of Millport on Greater Cumbrae. Finally, no visit to Largs would
be complete without sampling the delights
of its famous ice cream shops.
