...
welcomes you to The Kingdom of Fife, Scotland. Enjoy your visit.

Beveridge Park, Kirkcaldy.

After
Kinghorn, you will reach the
larger town of Kirkcaldy, the ‘Lang Toun’. Over the
years Kirkcaldy has had a mixed economic base. It is a market town
with a working harbour. However there is also a history of pottery
and mining. Still one of the main employers is ‘Nairns’,
the only remaining Linoleum factory in Britain. Kirkcaldy
has the usual mix of facilities - theatre, cinema, swimming pool,
parks, museums and shopping centre. |
Barrhead is a village
in the East Renfrewshire region of The Clyde Valley.
Barrhead Community Museum
depicts the history of Barrhead across all eras, and contains numerous
local artefacts of interest.
|
For
the historian, you can visit Ravenscraig Castle which dates
from 1460. For the economic and politically minded, Kirkcaldy
is the birth place of Adam Smith (1723-1790) and for the
more active, there is indoor Karting and Iceskating.
My
personal favourite event of the year is the Links Market,
reputed to be the longest street fair in Britain, the market takes
over the Esplanade for three days a year and is the best
place for candy-floss, hot-dogs and every fair-ground ride imaginable.
