Lochwinnoch,
a picturesque Renfrewshire village, is close to Howood and Castle Semple
Country Park. The village is surrounded by stunning scenery, as well
as being an ideal location for those interested in Scottish wildlife
and wildfowl.
Near
Lochwinnoch is Castle Semple Country Park, on the shores of Castle
Semple Loch, this park is part of Muirshiel Regional Park
(which has a visitor centre and Ranger service). The regional park caters
for a range of tastes, including boating, cycling, windsurfing, canoeing,
fishing and walking, and is home to the Castle Semple Regatta.
Woodland walks are available, as well as walks to the moorland areas
and to Calder River Waterfalls and Windy Hill.
The ruins
of Castle Semple Collegiate Church which was built in 1505 can
be found nearby. It contains a memorial to the first Lord Semple,
John, who was killed at the battle of Flodden.
