East
and West Wemyss
|
...
welcome you to The Kingdom of Fife, Scotland.
|
 |
The
two small villages of East Wemyss and West Wemyss
each have their own distinct character. Places to visit include
St Adrian’s Church in West Wemyss, build of red sandstone
and named after a missionary who with others came to evangelise
in Fife having established a chapel on the May Isle. St Adrian
is though to have come from Hungary and was killed by the
Danes on the May Isle about 850AD. In East Wemyss you will
find McDuff Castle, reputed to be the home of "Macduff",
a character in Shakespeare’s Macbeth. Along the shore
line you can visit the Wemyss caves where a treasure house of Pictish
and later carvings can be found. |
